Who this is for

For proposals that feel personal, not performative

Whether it's a quiet riverside moment in Liverpool, a windswept coastal plan, or a destination proposal further afield — the approach stays the same: natural, cinematic, documentary-led, with room for genuine emotion instead of forced posing.

From the anticipation before the question to the relief and joy that follow, the most powerful part of a proposal is often the atmosphere around it. I focus on the in-between too: the pacing, the glances, the setting, the surprise, and the way it all actually felt.

If you need help shaping the plan, I can guide you on timing, approach, and how to keep everything discreet without making the experience feel staged.

Discreet proposals

Ideal for surprise engagements where staying hidden matters as much as beautiful coverage.

After-yes portraits

A short, relaxed session straight after — while the emotion is still fresh and everything still feels real.

Photo & film

Choose photography, videography, or both — depending on how you want to carry the memory.

Thoughtful planning

Help with timing, position, and logistics so you can focus entirely on the person in front of you.

What's included

Coverage built around the story of the moment

Every proposal is different, so coverage can stay simple or become more tailored. The aim is always the same: keep the experience honest, beautiful, and easy for you both to relive.

Discreet proposal coverage

Filming and photography from a considered position, without interrupting the surprise.

Location and timing guidance

Advice on light, privacy, movement, and where the moment is most likely to feel natural.

Couple portraits afterwards

A gentle post-proposal session while the excitement is still fresh — minimal posing, documentary feel.

Edited gallery and/or film

Delivered as cinematic highlights, a photo gallery, or both — depending on your package.

Process

Simple, calm, and designed to keep things seamless

01

Share the plan

Tell me the date, idea, and location — even if it's still half-formed.

02

Shape the details

We refine timing, positioning, backup options, and how the surprise will unfold naturally.

03

Capture it quietly

On the day, I work unobtrusively so the proposal stays intimate and uninterrupted.

04

Relive it beautifully

You receive cinematic imagery that brings back both the feeling and the atmosphere.

Keeping it a surprise

A little preparation goes a long way

The most common question is a simple one: "How do we explain who you are?" The good news is that it rarely needs to be complicated. A natural-sounding reason for my presence — planned in advance — means your partner won't give it a second thought. Here are three approaches that work well:

Option 01

The passing stranger

I position myself as someone photographing the landscape, the street, or the surroundings. For outdoor proposals — a park, the waterfront, a viewpoint — this is the most natural approach. I stay far enough away to go unnoticed, and close enough to capture everything.

Option 02

The pre-arranged "coincidence"

You tell your partner a few days before that a friend or colleague happens to be doing a photography project nearby and might ask you both for a quick portrait. When I appear, it feels like a happy accident — not a setup. By the time the proposal happens, I'm already a trusted face.

Option 03

The professional booking

Some couples prefer honesty with a twist: "I've booked us a couples photo shoot as a surprise." Your partner knows someone is coming, but not why. It removes any awkwardness on the day, gives me full freedom to move around you both, and often leads to the most relaxed and beautiful coverage.

Not sure which approach suits your situation? I'm happy to talk it through and help you find what feels right — just get in touch and we'll figure it out together.

FAQ

The things people usually want to know first

We plan timing, meeting points, and visual cues in advance so I can stay discreet and you can stay focused on the moment. I also help you choose a natural cover story if needed — see the section above for ideas.

Yes. If you're unsure where to do it, I can suggest options based on atmosphere, privacy, light, and how naturally the proposal can unfold there.

Yes — depending on the kind of coverage you want. You can choose photography, videography, or a combined package.

Absolutely. A short portrait session after the proposal works beautifully while the emotion is still fresh and genuine.

We plan for this. With a good cover story and a sensible position, it almost never happens — but if it does, the pre-planned explanation holds up naturally. The "passing photographer" or "couple portrait shoot" covers most situations without raising any suspicion.
